“I know well what I am fleeing from but not what I am in search of.”
― Michel de Montaigne

“Why am I here? Where did I come from? What happens when I die?”

What’s The Bible Say?

“All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.” and that “the wages of sin is death.” The prophet Isaiah stated, “We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment: we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us far away.”

I once was told that religion was like building a set of stairs to heaven. For every good thing you do you add another stair and get a little closer to God. This is not the message of the Bible. If we could do it ourselves then Jesus would not have needed to come.  Why bother If man through his perseverance and desire could build his own set of stairs to God?

The Message.

According to the Bible’s message there is not enough wood in the world to build a stairs high enough to get to heaven because heaven is not obtained through our work but through forgiveness. Forgiveness is not free. It was paid for by the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. Like an old hymn says “He paid a debt He did not owe and I owed a debt I could not pay.” It should have been us on the cross but the Creator Himself put His life in the hands of His creation, and His creation killed him. It might seem strange, but actually these events were prophesied by Isaiah.  “But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities… All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to own way; and the Lord has put upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all.” There was only one piece of wood that needed to open the door to heaven; the one that our Savior was nailed to. For upon this cross He died to pay the price for our sins.

New Life.

Can we know why we’re here, where we came from and what happens when we die?  Yes, by believing in the name of Jesus. Trust Him today. Accept the free gift of salvation. It was stated that “the wages of sin is death”. The Bible then says, “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Say this prayer:  “Jesus, I know that I’m a sinner. I believe that you died and rose from the dead for me. I receive you as my Savior. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life.” Jesus loves you. He died on a cross for you because you are a sinner and you needed someone to pay the penalty for your sin. Because of what He did you can be forgiven of all your sins and freed from guilt.

The Answer.

When you receive Christ as your savior the big questions in life are answered. Now you are free to live knowing that God will never stop loving you and He won’t leave you alone in the tough times that come to everyone. He will always be there for you. Jesus is the answer.

Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.  John 14:6

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
