How can I know God?

Have you ever asked how can I know God?, Why am I here? Where did I come from? Is being a good person enough to buy my ticket to heaven? What would happen to me if suddenly I died?
Maybe we don't ask these questions because we think nobody has the answer. Or maybe we are afraid of what the answer might be. Whatever the reason, there is an answer. Jesus loves you. He died on a cross for you because you are a sinner and you needed someone to pay the penalty for your sin, "the wages of sin is death" Roman 6:23. Because of what He did you can be forgiven of all your sins and freed from guilt. Christ did this for you because you could not do it yourself. The prophet Isaiah says in the Bible "For we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment: we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us far away [far from God's favor hurrying us toward destruction]." I once was told that religion was like building a set of stairs to heaven. For every good thing you do you add another stair and get a little closer to God. This is not the message of the Bible. If we could do it ourselves then why would Jesus have come here, lived among us, suffered and died for us? Why bother If man through his perserverance and desire could build his own set of stairs to God? According to the Bible's message there is not enough wood in the world to build a stairs high enough to get to heaven because heaven is not obtained through our work but through forgiveness. Forgiveness is not free. It was paid for by the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. Like an old hymn says "He paid a debt He did not owe and I owed a debt I could not pay." It should have been us on the cross but the creator Himself put his life in the hands of His creation and His creation killed him. This might seem strange but in fact it was prophesied by Isaiah: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities... All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to own way; and the Lord has put upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all". There is only one peice of wood that we need to enter heaven and receive eternal life and that is the one that our Savior was nailed to. For upon this cross He died to pay the price for our offenses toward God. Can we know God? Yes we can. And we can come to Him by the only way that He has provided; by believing in the name of Jesus. Trust Him today. Accept the free gift of salvation. It was stated that "the wages of sin is death". The statement that follows says "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". Say this prayer: "Jesus, I know that I'm a sinner. I believe that you died and rose from the dead for me. Give me this gift of salvation. I accept you as my savior. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life." When you receive Christ as your savior the big questions in life are answered. Then you are free to live knowing that God will never stop loving you and He won't leave you alone in a tough situation. He will always be there for you. He will be your friend.
